Responsibilities Work in a hospital setting across all PCU and Medical-Surgical units as a float RN Shifts are 3x12 hours, 6 : 45 pm to 7 : 15 am (nights) Patient ratios average 5 : 1 in PCU units and 6 : 1 in MS units, with potential to flex up to 7 : 1 Floating occurs up to every 4 hours and may require floating to inpatient rehab at other campus locations Weekend work required, either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract EPIC EMR experience is required Responsible for providing care across multiple PCU and MS units, often moving between units multiple times per shift based on staffing needs Participation in advanced cardiovascular and endocrine / metabolic patient care Must be willing and able to float to other units within the hospital and across campuses as needed First-time travelers are welcome to apply Required to include all time-off and scheduling requests at application Facility may cancel up to one shift per two-week period Must be able to work in a large, Level I trauma and teaching hospital with Magnet designation and advanced specialty services Must provide proof of drivers license and social security number for consideration Requirements Active RN license in Virginia or compact state required (pending accepted only for single-state non-compact licenses) Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support such as nasal cannula, CPAP / BiPAP, and chest tubes Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, titrating cardiac drips, and rapid response / code team participation Ability to manage PCA and heparin protocols and IV insulin for endocrine / metabolic conditions Background in telemetry and stepdown-level care including pre / post cardiac cath settings EPIC system experience is required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630845.
