Overview

Cultural Competency Training & Consulting Director (Part-Time, non-exempt) — Reports to Executive Director. This role partners with leaders and team members to advance CCHCP’s mission to bridge communities and health care institutions, by building and training curriculum, managing business development of the program, and mentoring direct reports in a hybrid environment. CCHCP operates Monday and Friday remotely and in the Seattle office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Using culturally agile practices, the program advises health and human services organizations on how to build and sustain culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) for patients, clients, and partners, with emphasis on cultural competency, belonging, and unity.

What You’ll Bring

Responsibilities

  • Training and Consulting (45%) — In-person and online training and consulting services, delivering current curriculum and updating it as needed.
  • Facilitate the 40-hour Training of Trainers (TOT) and other training programs for prospective trainers.
  • Advise clients through needs assessments, community listening sessions, and cultural agility best practices arising from consulting contracts.
  • Stay current on health care and social services trends to keep curriculum and services relevant.
  • Negotiate and generate proposals, contracts, grants, and agreements with local and national clients, with oversight from the Executive Director. Manage timely accounts receivable and maintain program records per organizational procedures.
  • Program & Business Development (30%) — Develop a program sustainability plan with yearly, three-year, and five-year projections in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Participate in strategic planning to introduce ideas that improve CCHCP services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with health care and social services organizations, government entities, funders, advisors, and consultants to secure contracts or funding.
  • Supervise, partner with, and mentor the Program Coordinator to foster a productive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Language Access Program Director to ensure alignment with CCHCP values and vision.
  • Under the Executive Director, file regular program reports on completed / pending training, projects, and proposals.
  • Participate in organizational meetings, weekly team calls, planning sessions, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Use CCHCP program management systems / tools to support service delivery.
  • Qualifications
  • This role requires deep understanding of social determinants of health, awareness of health inequities, and strong emotional intelligence, plus business program development skills in curriculum development, training, and client relationship cultivation.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing and / or presenting cultural competency / CLAS training.
  • Understanding of effective adult education / training methodologies; comfortable facilitating discussions and unscripted content.
  • Knowledge of health inequities and regulatory issues in CLAS.
  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, planning, organization, and a track record of completing projects.
  • Ability to develop and execute action plans, multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong data tabulation and statistical analysis skills.
  • Excellent writing / editing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience engaging with multicultural communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree or proven professional equivalency.
