CSPD Sterile Processing Manager

Job Summary

The CSPD Manager will coordinate and monitor all sterile processing and distribution functions such as decontamination, preparation / packaging, sterilization of surgical instruments, and case carts. Responsible for the supervision of all Central Sterile Supply activities, staff scheduling, shift management and the coordination of surgical instruments and supplies to the OR and ancillary departments.

The primary mission is to build a cohesive team, improve existing processes and customer satisfaction. The CSPD Manager will identify improvement opportunities in organizational structure, business procedures and staff education that can provide operational, financial, and quality improvements to Sterile Processing. The CSPD Manager will work with the Administration and the Sterile Processing Management team(s) to implement improvement opportunities. The CSPD Manager is a hands-on working manager that will work cohesively with the SPD staff.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS : Designated facility Director(s) and / or the Clinical Director of Compliance

Job Functions

• Management guidance, mentoring, and process improvements.
• Implement tools to effectively perform day-to-day operations.
• Manage, coach and mentor staff.
• Evaluate current processes and implement process improvement initiatives.
• Monitor, audit, and enhance the quality of the process and products manufactured or rendered to customers by the department.
• Identify and resolve issues in a timely manner; ensure that client satisfaction is achieved.
• Enforce the appropriate service levels to achieve staff productivity and standardized department policies and procedures are compliant.
• Utilize time effectively and manage to complete assignments within the allotted time.
• Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise in sterile processing and inventory control principles.
• Visible presence in the OR; troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience :

Must be able to regularly lift to 30 lbs., stoop, bend, push and pull as required; standing for long periods of time should be expected.
