Primary Responsibilities
- Innovate new networking strategies and protocol concepts that blend traditional approaches with emerging technologies.
- Design and prototype avant-garde versions of networking protocols, such as enhancing BGP to include quantum sensing for link security evaluation.
- Define, simulate, and assess pioneering networking protocols to meet next-generation performance and security needs.
- Research and evaluate cutting-edge network infrastructure technologies with actionable recommendations.
- Plan, design, and refine network systems leveraging both novel and traditional protocols.
- Generate technical documentation, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and lead knowledge transfer initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a relevant field; Minimum of 12 years of networking experience; Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience; Doctorate in a technical field may also be considered.Demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting networks.Expertise in simulating and evaluating networking protocols and architectures.Thorough knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, along with routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.Strong grasp of network security principles, architectures, and best practices.Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities; proven capability to take initiative and lead technical projects.Outstanding technical writing and communication skills.Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience in designing new networking protocols or protocol enhancements, beyond just architecting networks with existing frameworks.Experience in conceptualizing, defining, and simulating innovative networking methods, especially in secure routing and adaptive protocols.Background in developing software implementations of novel or extended protocols.Familiarity with quantum networking and the integration of quantum sensing into traditional networking architectures.Active DoD Secret clearance.Openness and ability to work onsite in either San Diego, California, or Arlington, Virginia are highly preferred.Key Differentiator
