Must-Have : Epic EMR proficiency required and recent Trauma level I / II hospital experience required.

Description :

ICU experience preferred.

No 48-hour guarantees.

No blocked scheduling requests.

No more than 5 days of requested time off.

Nurse-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 2 in the MedSurg ICU.

When there are no vents / drips, the ratio is 1 : 3.

Includes 42 beds.

Common diagnoses / types of patients include cardiac-open heart, balloon, impella, tPA, TPE.

Core staff will handle specialties; small head bleeds and post-tPA administration.

Level 3 trauma cases are managed onsite.

Experience with vents, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac, CHF, and respiratory issues is essential.

RNs are required to titrate drips.

Common titratable and / or set rate drips include a variety of critical ICU drips.

This includes vasopressors, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, anti-hypertensives, and sedatives.

Analgesics and anticoagulants are also used frequently.

Intensivist is present 24 hours per day.

A nurse aid / patient care tech is available in the unit.

The ratio is typically 1 : 10 for PCAs.

PCAs can assist with EKG, blood sugar, procedures setup, I / O, ADLs, and lab draws.

Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7.

Centralized telemetry monitoring is available in each nursing station.

Shifts are scheduled from 6 : 45 to 7 : 15, with a clock-out required for lunch.

Self-scheduling is allowed with up to 4 requested days off in a 4-week period.

Weekend shift requirements are 4 shifts in a 4-week period.

Holiday requirements include working 2 major holidays, with the exception of Christmas Eve.

Floating to other units may be required, with a maximum of 4 patients instead of 6.

Scrub color is navy blue.

The cancellation policy allows for up to a weekly guaranteed hours equivalent for assignments.

Charting is conducted using the Epic system.

A BSN is not required.

Essential certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
