Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift PCU / MS Float position requiring proficiency in telemetry and Epic documentation.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based PCU / MS float position covering all Progressive Care and Med / Surg unitsFloat between different PCU and MS units with assignments potentially changing every 4 hours, up to 2-3 times per shiftMay float to Inpatient Rehab as requiredPatient ratios average 5 : 1 for PCU and 6 : 1 for MS, with occasional flexibility up to 7 : 1Night shifts from 6 : 45 p.m. to 7 : 15 a.m., 3x12 schedule (4x12 available upon request)Weekend coverage includes every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week blockMust work at least one holiday during each 13-week contractUses Epic EMR system; Epic experience requiredResponsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to a wide variety of patient populations in PCU, MS, and Inpatient Rehab as neededEngage as a member of the Rapid Response or Code teams when necessaryFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyMust submit all RTO with application; no Christmas RTO will be approvedLocals are accepted pending facility's radius rule criteriaFacility may call off up to one shift every two weeksDress code and scrub requirements will be provided upon assignmentRequirements
Active VA or compact RN license required for considerationACLS and BLS certifications requiredMust have experience in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administrationProficiency in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including CPAP / BiPAP and chest tubesStrong skills in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, cardiac drips titration, and participation in Rapid Response / Code teamsExperience with PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin, and management of endocrine / metabolic conditionsPrior stepdown-level (PCU / DOU / IMC) and cardiovascular experience in pre / post cardiac cath settingsEpic charting experience requiredPending licenses accepted only if from non-compact single-state RN, otherwise must hold active VA or Compact RN / LPN licenseBenefits
