Summary
The Mechanical Technician performs routine work and repairs for a variety of mechanical equipment and systems supporting the academic research and clinical environments of Midwestern University. This position reports to the Lead Stationary Engineer. The role assists the mechanical engineering team with a variety of work activities to optimize the performance of mechanical products machinery and equipment. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 3 : 00 pm to 11 : 30 pm.

Education and / or Experience
High School diploma or GED with 1-2 years of related experience with mechanical equipment or an Associates degree in a related field is required. A certification from a technical school or Associates degree in a related field is desired. Must have a valid drivers license.
Computer Skills
Computer proficiency in MS Office Word and Excel is desired.
Language Skills
Intermediate skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Reasoning Ability
Intermediate skills : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; and exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in this environment is moderately loud.
