Job description

Job Description :

  • The Phlebotomist II is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens, ensuring accuracy in labeling and documentation, following safety protocols, and delivering excellent patient service.
  • This role includes performing venipunctures, specimen handling, and supporting daily lab operations in a fast-paced environment.

Requirement / Must Have :

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

  • bility to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations.

  • Training locations may vary.

    • Experience :

  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience strongly preferred.
  • Keyboard / data entry experience.
  • Experience with blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, data recording, decontamination, and updating patient information.
  • Experience using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Experience handling hard sticks, urine samples, and thyroid testing.

    • Responsibilities :

  • Perform blood draws and collect specimens following established procedures.
  • Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients clearly.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test requirements.
  • Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and computer labels.
  • Package and store specimens according to required temperature and protocol.
  • Follow OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • ttend required department trainings.
  • nswer phone calls and provide lab results as needed.
  • Maintain specimen integrity throughout handling and transport processes.

    • Should Have :

  • Detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • bility to handle hard sticks and challenging collections.

    • Skills :

  • Phlebotomy (1.5+ years preferred).
  • Specimen processing.
  • Customer service.
  • Data entry.
  • Multitasking in high-volume settings.
  • Communication and patient interaction skills.

    • Qualification and Education :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in certain states).
