Overview
Element has an opportunity for a GC / MS Analyst to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the GC / MS Analyst position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The GC / MS Analyst position must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Analysis of samples using Gas chromatography (GC) and Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) for multiple test methods included, but not limited to, Volatile Organics Compounds (VOCs) and Semi-Volatile Organics Compounds (SVOCs), TO-15, etc
- Loading instruments with required QC and samples, review of data generated and importing to the LIMS system
- Perform tasks pertaining to the analysis of samples including, but not limited to, preparation of standards and solutions, extruding encores, accurately preparing dilutions, meet holding times, organizing and de-cluttering the area on a regular basis and detailed documentation
- Must be knowledgeable of the relevant manuals and SOPs to insure strict adherence of all procedures
- Equipment maintenance, which includes inspection and replacement of consumable parts
- Wash glassware and perform tasks in required manner when necessary
- Follow all safety procedures and policies which include the use of lab coats, gloves and safety glasses at all times when in the lab
- Cross train in other areas as well as assisting throughout the lab when needed
- Weekend and holiday work is possible as needed
