Pioneer Equine is seeking a new team member boarded or board-eligible in large animal surgery.This position has several possible structures depending on the candidate’s goals and interests.

This position could include elective and emergency caseload combined with sports medicine in conjunction with the other staff surgeon OR could be an emergency-based position with flexible scheduling.

About the Position :

Option to be structured to provide 50% coverage of the elective and emergency surgical caseload and sports medicine cases.

Option to be structured to be a mainly emergency based position with very flexible scheduling.

Primarily in hospital caseload, but access to an ambulatory vehicle as needed.

On call is strictly coverage of surgical cases; primary on call coverage is provided by associates and interns.

Supported by multiple interns, technicians, an ultrasound specialist, a surgeon cohort, and an internal medicine specialist

Flexible scheduling including day length and number of days per week

Pioneer Equine Hospital has grown to be one of the most recognized practices in the country for equine surgery and lameness, as well as a full-service referral hospital and stallion center.

We provide primary and emergency care on both an outpatient and ambulatory basis. We strive to excel in all aspects of equine practice with a focus on client service and exceptional patient care.

The hospital is extremely well-equipped with the resources to excel in case work-up and diagnosis, including but not limited to a large lameness pad with varied footing, digital radiography, large bore CT, a 1.

5 Tesla MRI, endoscopy, and digital ultrasound. The surgical facilities are state of the art, with 2 large surgical suites and 4 induction / recovery stalls, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, and much more.

Our Ideal Candidate :

You are a DVM or VMD and DACVS(LA) or is board eligible with an ability to obtain a California license

oThe California Board Examination has recently been eliminated new requirements are NAVLE + a take-home California veterinary law exam
