JOBSUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Transportschildren safely to and from school, fosters and safe environment on bus;compiles and maintains accurate and current records to ensure efficient andsafe operations for the Board of Education.
PRIMARYJOB FUNCTIONS: List, inthe order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional dutiesby management as required:
Job Responsibility 1:
Transports children safely to and from school; fosters and maintains safe environment; drives route accurately and efficiently; observes and obeys all traffic rules and regulations; and follows and obeys all policies and procedures to ensure efficient transportation and delivery operations. Follows assigned safety rules and inspects bus for safety items before each morning and afternoon run by following checklist.
Job Responsibility 2:
Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking for students that might remain on board, all within accordance to Federal, State and Local guidelines. Monitors and replaces parts when necessary and notes any damage of vehicle alterations to ensure safe vehicle operations for the School District.
Job Responsibility 3:
Sweeps, cleans and washes vehicle; removes lost or leftover items from bus and returns to lost and found when applicable; and maintains clean and sanitary environment to ensure a healthy and safe atmosphere.
Job Responsibility 4:
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records and route descriptions; inspects vehicle regularly and performs basic maintenance functions in order to maintain professional and safe transportation for the Board of Public Education. Obeys Federal, State and Local rules and regulations pertaining to safe operation of school bus.
Job Responsibility 5:
Monitors children and disciplines according to District rules and guidelines when required; meets with principals, parents and children to solve behavior problems as necessary and keeps disciplinary records current to ensure accurate records management for the Board of Public Education.

EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School graduate or GED.
LICENSES,CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED : “ Licenses,Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federallicenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.
CurrentTennessee Commercial Drivers’ License with Passenger and School Busendorsements.
EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS : “ ExperienceRequirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required forentry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that theperson can perform the tasks required by the position.
One or more years of equivalent or related experience, knowledgeof basic mechanical maintenance for vehicles. Must pass a yearly DOT physicaland carry a DOT Health Card.
Morespecific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included inthe position announcement as vacancies occur.

Standing and walking: generally 4 hours per day (sedentary)
