Job Description

Position : Sportsbook Ticket Writer

Department : Sportsbook

Reports To : Sportsbook Manager

Job Summary : Responsible for accurate cash transactions and processing of sportsbook wagers and payments. Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensures compliance to GED statues and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to) :

  • Maintain a cash bank for his / her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessary.
  • Stock Sports book Writer / Cashier's stations with adequate supplies; keeps all stations neat, clean and disinfected.
  • Write Sports tickets in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Explain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guests.
  • Make payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffs.
  • Maintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Provide information and assistance to customers in a friendly, courteous manner to ensure the delivery of guest service.

Offer information on activities, etc., and direct guests for further information as necessary.

  • Practice, observe, and enforce safety rules and regulations to ensure the safety and welfare of the patrons and team members.
  • Create and enter player tracking information.
  • Notify management of escalated or prevalent guest issues / concerns and any apparent suspicious activity.
  • Keeps daily balance sheet of amount and number of transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with currency transaction requirements, Title 31, and money laundering and Suspicious Activity Reporting for Casinos (SARC) requirements.
  • Consistently remains tuned in’ to what guests are saying and what motivates them. Acts as a conduit for guest feedback for the Executive Management Team.
  • Maintains knowledge of all property information.
  • Investigates if a Sports Book guest is wagering in an unethical or irregular manner or if a Sports Book team member is working in an unethical or irregular manner and report the findings appropriately.
  • Ensure Sports Book area is clean and that the equipment is in proper working condition daily.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory controls both internal and external including but not limited to state and federal laws and the Arizona State Gaming Commission regulations.
  • Sweeps of self-serve wagering machines, ticket jams, paper checks, etc.
  • Keep printer and ticket ribbon and paper in good working condition.
  • Sign off stations and balance out all monies with the final computer figures.
  • Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to CDS.
  • Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information; protects GED assets.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of Sportsbook operations, such as accounting procedures and administrative tasks.
  • Knowledge and understanding of departmental and GED internal controls, policies, and procedures as well as applicable gaming laws, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • 6 months of customer service experience and previous high volume cash handling experience.
  • Prior sports betting knowledge is preferred.
