Responsibilities of the Medical Billing Supervisor

Supervision and Leadership :

• Lead and manage a team of medical billing specialists, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and efficient communication within the billing department.

Billing Operations :

• Oversee the entire medical billing process, from charge entry to claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable management.
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims to insurance companies and government entities.
• Monitor and analyze billing metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and revenue cycle management.

Compliance :

• Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations, billing codes, and industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations, and implement measures to safeguard patient information.

Quality Assurance :

• Implement and enforce quality control measures to guarantee the accuracy of billing data and minimize billing errors.
• Conduct regular audits of billing processes to identify and address discrepancies.

Staff Development :

• Provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for billing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer constructive feedback to support the growth and development of team members.

Qualifications of Medical Billing Supervisor

• Proven experience in medical billing, with at least 5+ in a supervisory or leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of medical billing procedures, coding systems, and reimbursement practices.
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in medical billing software and MS Office applications.

Compensation of Medical Billing Supervisor

$50-60k Dependent on Experience
