Job Title : Machinist Reports To : Machine Shop Supervisor

Department : Machine Shop

Duties and Responsibilities :

Include the following : other duties may be assigned :

Performs simple to complex setups with verification of supervisor, sharpens tool cutters as needed to continue operation and modifies cutters for special operations.

Observes machine operation and measures parts in accordance with instructions using defined inspection media.

Reads routers, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine machining to be done,

dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.

Observes router instructions and dimension tolerances to ensure compliant parts are created based on dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts.

Mounts work piece securely in place in order to perform necessary machining.

Stops machine operation and notifies supervisor when the parts do not conform to

specifications.

Adjust tools and machine settings under minimal supervision to obtain specified results.

Performs required preventative maintenance procedures on assigned machines within

specified time frames.

Perform work in all areas of shop as designated by supervision on an as needed basis.

Dimensionally and visually inspects parts produced to ensure meets customer requirements.

Education and Experience : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to

perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the

knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

High school diploma or GED; and a minimum of three years’ experience in a metal shop

using similar equipment. Some vocational training is preferred. 0-2 years of demonstrated experience for Level 1 Machinist, 2-5 years of demonstrated experience for Level 2

Machinist, 5 or more years of demonstrated experience for Level 3 Machinist.

Aerospace experience preferred.

Experience with measuring tools, such as calipers and micrometers.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and blueprints in English is required.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in

written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to work independently in a team environment.

Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous.

Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate.
