About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Creative Director to elevate Milan Laser Hair Removal's creative vision across the country. With 400+ locations nationwide performing over 90,000 treatments per month, Milan is the category leader in laser hair removal, and this role will ensure our creative output is aligned with the premium level of service that Milan provides while being culturally relevant, and driving measurable business impact.

The Creative Director will own creative strategy, concept development, art direction, copywriting, and creative production across all marketing touchpoints. A key focus will be translating Milan's brand positioning into breakthrough creative executions that resonate with diverse audiences across paid media, and owned channels. You will lead and inspire a high-performing in-house creative team to deliver innovative, high-quality work that balances creative excellence with performance optimization.

This role will be central to Milan's next chapter of growth, ensuring every creative touchpoint reflects Milan's quality, expertise, and commitment to exceptional client experiences. It reports to the VP of Brand.

Location: This is a 100% on-site role at our Omaha, NE office. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Essential Functions:

Creative Strategy & Concepting

  • Help define Milan’s brand positioning, ensuring differentiators are activated and our leadership in the category is continually reinforced while resonating with customer needs and pain points.
  • Lead the development and execution of creative concepts, campaign ideas, and monthly full funnel briefs that bring Milan's brand positioning to life across the customer journey with the flexibility for relevancy in social and the consistency throughout all touchpoints to reflect the Milan brand.
  • Define and evolve Milan's creative approach, ensuring all creative is grounded in brand strategy, customer insights, and business objectives.
  • Translate audience research, customer insights, and seasonal trends into creative briefs, concepts, and executions that connect authentically with target audiences.
  • Develop creative campaigns that extend across channels while allowing for flexibility, testing, and platform-specific optimization.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Social, CRO, Performance Marketing, and Marketing Analytics, to ensure creative work is strategically aligned and performance-driven.

Art Direction & Design Leadership

  • Translate brand strategy into exceptional visual identity across all marketing touchpoints.
  • Oversee art direction for photography, videography, graphic design, and motion graphics, ensuring Milan's visual identity is consistent, distinctive, and relevant.
  • Elevate design excellence across all deliverables, from performance marketing assets to social campaigns, ensuring quality, craft, attention to detail, while maintaining speed and agility.
  • Stay on top of design trends, platform best practices, and cultural aesthetics, ensuring Milan's creative feels fresh, modern, and resonant with Milan’s audiences.
  • Develop design systems, style guides, and creative standards that enable consistency and efficiency while allowing for creative expression and innovation.
  • Lead creative reviews and provide feedback that elevates work, develops team capabilities, and maintains creative standards.

Copywriting & Messaging

  • Own Milan's creative messaging strategy, ensuring copy is compelling, authentic, strategically aligned, and optimized for each platform and audience.
  • Translate brand positioning and campaign themes into clear, memorable, benefit-driven messaging that resonates with customer needs and motivations.
  • Support promotional planning through innovative concepts to help excite and engage clients about their laser journey
  • Lead copywriting for major campaigns, ads, social content, website copy, and in-practice messaging, crafting headlines, body copy, and calls-to-action that drive engagement and conversion.
  • Develop messaging frameworks, tone of voice guidelines, and copywriting standards that ensure consistency while enabling creative flexibility and testing.
  • Partner with Performance Marketing to optimize ad copy based on testing insights, balancing creative impact with conversion performance.
  • Ensure all copy is grammatically excellent, brand-appropriate, and legally compliant while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Lead and support promotional planning with creative and innovative concepts and packaging to drive lead volume.

Creative Production & Execution

  • Oversee end-to-end creative production, managing timelines, resources, and workflows to deliver high-quality work efficiently and on schedule.
  • Lead production for photography shoots, video productions, and content creation, managing vendors, talent, locations, and post-production to ensure excellence and efficiency.
  • Build scalable production processes that enable the team to deliver high volumes of creative assets without sacrificing quality or strategic thinking.
  • Leverage new tools and technologies, including AI, to enhance production efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining creative quality and distinctiveness.
  • Develop production and approval systems that enable consistency, efficiency, and quality control across all creative deliverables.
  • Manage creative budgets, production costs, and vendor relationships to maximize value and maintain fiscal responsibility.

Creative Testing & Optimization

  • Partner with Marketing Analytics and Growth to build a structured creative testing framework to evaluate messaging, formats, visuals, and concepts across channels.
  • Use performance data, A/B testing results, and engagement metrics to identify what creative resonates and scale the most impactful approaches.
  • Develop a test-and-learn culture within the creative team, encouraging experimentation, learning from failures, and iterating based on data.
  • Balance creative intuition with performance insights, using data to inform decisions while maintaining creative vision and brand integrity.
  • Translate testing insights into creative briefs, concept improvements, and strategic recommendations that drive continuous performance improvement.

Social & Influencer Creative

  • Partner to bring to life Milan’s social and influencer creative vision through dynamic, trend-aware storytelling that extends the brand’s identity across organic and creator-led content.
  • Lead the development of creative briefs and content concepts that drive engagement, brand affinity, and cultural relevance while staying true to Milan’s premium positioning.
  • Collaborate with the Social and Influencer teams to ensure all content, from day-to-day posts to larger collaborations, reflects Milan’s aesthetic, voice, and values with flexibility for platform trends and real-time opportunities.
  • Guide how Milan shows up across emerging formats and creator partnerships, ensuring creative work remains fresh, aspirational, and authentic to the brand.
  • Translate social insights and cultural trends into creative strategies that build community and drive measurable impact.

Platform-Specific Creative Excellence

  • Develop platform-specific creative approaches that balance Milan's brand consistency with platform-native best practices and optimization requirements.
  • Lead creative development for paid search (ad copy, extensions, landing pages), paid social (video, static, carousel, stories), OTT/CTV, email/SMS and emerging platforms.
  • Stay ahead of platform changes, new ad formats, creative trends and AI capabilities rapidly adapting Milan's creative approach to leverage new opportunities.

Team Leadership & Creative Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing creative team including designers, copywriters, art directors, and production specialists.
  • Foster a culture of creative excellence, collaboration, curiosity, and accountability where bold ideas are encouraged and great work is celebrated.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities that help team members grow their craft and advance their careers.
  • Build creative processes and workflows that enable efficiency, clarity, and quality while allowing for creative exploration and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Advertising, Fine Arts, Communications, or related creative field OR equivalent combination of education/experience combined (one year of experience equals one year of education) required
  • Minimum of eight years of experience in creative direction, art direction, or integrated marketing creative with a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity required
  • Proven portfolio demonstrating exceptional creative work for consumer brands across multiple channels, platforms, and mediums with measurable business impact required (a portfolio review will be part of the interview process and must include consumer brands to be considered)
  • Deep expertise in art direction, design, and visual storytelling with mastery of design principles, typography, color theory, and composition required
  • Strong copywriting skills with ability to craft compelling headlines, messaging, and calls-to-action across brand and performance marketing required
  • Experience leading creative teams, with a track record of developing creative talent, managing workflows, and delivering quality work under tight deadlines required
  • Experience creating platform-specific creative for paid search, paid social, video, email/SMS and emerging channels
  • Track record of creative testing and using data insights to inform creative decisions and optimizations
  • Fluency in creative production processes including photography, videography, post-production, and digital asset creation required
  • Understanding of performance marketing dynamics and ability to balance creative excellence with conversion optimization required
  • Proficiency with creative tools and software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.) and comfort leveraging AI and emerging technologies for creative production required
  • Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally with brand, marketing, analytics, and operations teams to drive business results through creative excellence required
  • Background in beauty, aesthetics, wellness, lifestyle strongly preferred
