Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Trauma Coder 1 works independently to extrapolate data from medical records for entry into the trauma registry according to regulatory guidelines. The Trauma Coder 1 assigns diagnosis and procedure codes according to ICD-10 CM/PCS and AAAM AIS coding guidelines and conventions and National Trauma Data Standards. Responsibilities Performs technical and miscellaneous procedures as assigned. Accurately abstracts data elements as required. Stays current of all changes in coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, code updates and BJC coding guidance. Identifies patients who meet criteria for inclusion into the trauma registry. Maintains the trauma registry and meets the appropriate productivity standards.
