Job Summary

Surgical Tech at Mission Community Hospital is a full-time, salaried position in Panorama City, California. The Surgical Tech is responsible for assisting surgeons and nursing staff in the preparation and completion of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare operating room for surgery by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain a high degree of cleanliness in the operating room
  • Pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons during surgery
  • Monitor supplies and equipment count during surgery
  • Assist in dressing changes to prevent wound complications
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to hospital protocols
  • Ensure all medications and implants are handled appropriately
  • Assist in the recording of medical documentation related to the operative procedure
  • Participate in a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education courses each year

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program
  • An understanding of aseptic techniques
  • At least one year of experience in hospital operating rooms
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills
