SUMMARY

Under the clinical supervision of a physician, Atrius Health is seeking a Full-time Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or a certified Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Hematology, Oncology, and Infusion practice(s) in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Certified NP / PA works in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to provide comprehensive care and plan of care to adult hematology and oncology patients in the outpatient clinic setting.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS

Graduate of nationally accredited, Masters-level Physician Assistant program. Possesses / eligible for national certification as a Physician Assistant.

Possesses / eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Possession and maintenance of or eligibility for DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.

Graduate of a State-approved school of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Master of Science degree and Nurse Practitioner certification in an area of specialty required.

Possess a current license to practice as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and authorization to practice in the expanded role.

Possession and maintenance of or eligibility for DEA and Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of direct patient care experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse practitioner within a primary care or specialty care setting.

Strong preference for experience in hematology / oncology & Infusion.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Engage in comprehensive diagnosis and management of complex hem-onc patients in all spectrums of cancer diagnosis and care including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care.
  • Complete comprehensive histories and physicals of hem-onc patients.
  • Collaborate with supervising / attending physicians, consultants, and members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Initiate orders and implement diagnostic and treatment plans, including intravenous fluids, medications, and transfusions
  • Perform minor procedures, including bone marrow aspirations and biopsy
  • Assist with clinic coverage at other Atrius sites as / if needed.
  • Other duties / responsibilities as assigned

Good organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinical environment. Exceptional customer service skills.

Above average oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently. Ability to effectively communicate and work with physicians, residents, nurses, patients, families, staff, other health care professionals, and management.

The ability to work as a team member is necessary for this position.
