Overview :

Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Public Works, works with all divisions within Public Works in the development and maintenance of infrastructure data, while optimizing available workflow management tools that manage the allocation of people, tools and equipment and ensure the accuracy of Public Works data utilizing basic project management principles.

Edits and modifies database layers for Town infrastructure and provides program administration for CityWorks asset management software.

Provides training and support to departmental users on ArcMap, CityWorks, and Storeroom.

Examples of Duties

WORK ACTIVITIES :

  • Manages Public Works assets through the program administration of the work order system (CityWorks) and the asset Management software (Storeroom), including database design and data upload
  • Updates and maintains various datasets using CityWorks and other mapping software. Edits and modifies database layers for Town infrastructure
  • Performs quality checks on asset data, including location, condition, and repair history of assets
  • Researches and interprets engineering construction plans, plats, legal metes, and bounds descriptions and various mapped information;

extracts relevant information for data entry; performs various calculations and computations

Participates in the collection of raw data for input into asset management tracking software; performs data conversion and organization;

aides in the collection of field data; manipulates data to generate reports, maps, and other technical documents

  • Collects and organizes other departmental data, possibly including field site visits. Maintains various data sets using conventional programs such as Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Provides accurate reports and details of expenditures utilized to measure current divisional efforts and aid in forecasting future needs and identifying opportunities for efficiencies
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, GIS, Public Administration, or a related field is required; in lieu of education two (2) years of asset management experience is required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with Town policy

WORK EXPERIENCE :

  • Must have one (1) year of experience in Asset Management, utilizing ArcGIS, ArcView, MapPoint, CityWorks or other data mapping applications
  • GIS software (ArcGIS) and CAD experience is required

Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history)

Desired Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES :

  • Must have knowledge of and ability to configure asset management software (specifically CityWorks and Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) / ArcGIS software)
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and maintain database within work order systems (specifically knowledge of CityWorks and Storeroom software)
  • Ability to produce accurate reports and details of expenditures utilized to measure current divisional efforts and aid in forecasting future needs and identifying program efficiencies
  • Skill in use of personal computer including Microsoft Office, Open Office or similar work processing programs, email and the internet
  • Skill in operating and properly utilizing a variety of office equipment including plotters, large format scanners, computers and peripheral equipment and printers
  • Problem solving skills for addressing complex technical and strategic problems using asset management technologies
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly, and accept responsibility for his / her own workload
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently with the general public, Town Council, public officials, and employees;
  • maintain a pleasant personality at all times; and work independently in absence of specific instructions with little or no supervision;

work well under pressure and stress; handle multiple tasks; prioritize and organize work assignments; and maintain confidentiality of confidential matters
