Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering

The Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineer role will drive alignment between Research & Development and Manufacturing with New Product Introduction, as well us sustainable manufacturing practices.

Key Functions :

Refines and enhances processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing / production principles and techniques to areas of manufacturing.

Not limited to conducting research, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, and soliciting observations from operators.

  • Establishes and improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards;

confirming manufacturing processes.

Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules;

estimating future requirements.

  • Follows and champions company processes related to manufacturing to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Function as the manufacturing representative to support, solve and complete root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Keeps equipment operational by solving and repairing equipment as necessary or coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
  • Develops tooling and fixtures for new products and processes and works with tooling vendors, as necessary.
  • Supports sourcing and VAVE qualification of purchased parts.
  • Maintains relevant product and process database.
  • Creates, updates, and reviews work instructions.
  • Supports operator training to complete and follow new and revised work instructions.
  • May create and / or update, assembly, and raw material drawings, as necessary.
  • Creates, reviews and approves / rejects Engineering Change Orders.
  • Attends relevant meetings for New Product Introductions or other key business initiatives.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Influences without authority across a matrixed organization.
  • Works in a multi-functional, team environment engaging daily with manufacturing, operations, quality, and R&D.
  • May assist Operations Director in NPI or product transfers across the global instruments network.

Requirements :

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related degree preferrably with 3 yeasrs of operations and / or manufacturing experience.

HS / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience.

  • 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)
  • PLM knowledge : Agile and / or Arena preferred
  • Strong, proactive communication skills across departments and with all levels of leadership
