Descripción del trabajo12+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity; 5+ years as a Project Manager; 3+ years managing staff Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or TE (Traffic Engineer) licensure Experience in active, non-motorized transportation Experience with DOT and Federally funded design projects Experience with Plans, Specifications and Estimates for roadway projects; strong project management knowledge Ability to guide staff and manage internal expectations; initiative to enhance Altas marketplace position Ability to manage multiple projects within budget and schedule constraints Willingness to travel Strong ethics, leadership, accountability, and decision-making Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, AutoCAD or MicroStation Proficiency with an enterprise-wide project management tool Masters degree in Civil Engineering or related field Experience managing large projects for private and public clients Experience using Deltek Vision Active participation in professional associations Flexible schedule with hybrid work; most days remote, in-office days support collaboration Office in Durham with access to local amenities A flexible culture supporting work-life balance Medical : PPO or HSA plans Life Insurance : Alta covers premiums 401(k) with company match up to 3% PTO : 21 days per year 11 holidays Paid parental leave / short-term disability Wellness reimbursement up to $800 / year Other benefits : travel allowances and professional development opportunities
Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager
Alta Planning + Design is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our Durham , North Carolina practice. This role focuses on active, multimodal, and sustainable transportation projects that impact communities across the Carolinas and the United States.
What You Will Do
- Manage a variety of transportation projects from design through construction, including budgets and schedules.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance delivery efficiency.
- Mentor staff and contribute to internal professional development.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to the Engineering team and collaborate with planning, landscape, data disciplines as needed.
- Prepare schedules, budgets, and scope of services for projects.
- Support regional business development.

Compensation
Base pay range : $120,000 - $170,000 per year. The actual pay is based on skills and experience. The stated range is provided by Alta Planning + Design.
Pay range in Durham is $120,000-$170,000 annually. Placement within the range is based on experience and qualifications.
