S. C. Hondros & Associates, Inc. was founded in 1970 and licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. Our office is located in Charlotte.
We provide design-build construction services as well as general contracting services based upon design by others. Our clients include owners and developers.
Duties :
- Completion of estimates for commercial, institutional, and industrial construction projects.
- Solicit bids and estimates from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare cost estimates for design-build and plan and specification projects, assuring that estimates are accurate, complete, and represent the actual requirements of the project.
- Prepare or aid in the preparation of outline specifications for design-build proposals.
- Aid in the preparation of working drawings through cost evaluation and plan review of design-build proposals and projects.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining good client relationships.
- Attend pre-construction conference and pass all information and commitments to project manager.
- Regularly review cost-to-date and projected cost of projects to assure cost objectives are met.
- Estimate change orders as requested by project manager.
- Review actual costs for completed projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating experience with a general contractor focusing on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects in the $1-15M range.
Experience with conceptual estimating preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of estimating means and methods.
- Competent with Value Engineering practices.
- Expert knowledge of building products, building code and regulations, and quality standards.
- Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
- Ability to plan and see the big picture
- Excellent time and project management skills
- Expert ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
