Med / Surg LPN Job Details

Location : Richmond, VA 23225 (Virginia healthcare jobs)

Unit : Medical-Surgical, Trauma Unit (4th Floor)

Assignment Type : 13-week travel contract

Start Date : September 8, 2025

End Date : December 8, 2025

Shift : 12-hour days (07 : 00-19 : 00)

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend

Dress Code : Navy scrubs

EMR System : Meditech

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1150 - $1230

LPN Qualifications

Active LPN or LVN license (Virginia or compact state)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a medical-surgical or trauma nursing setting

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care

Preferred : Experience with trauma, telemetry, and complex wound care

LPN Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care to a diverse medical-surgical and trauma population (patient ratio 5-6 : 1)

Collaborate with RNs, patient care technicians, and department assistants as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Monitor and document patient status using Meditech electronic medical record (EMR) system

Operate clinical equipment including remote telemetry, vein finder, bladder scanner, EKG machine, Doppler, Hoyer Lift, glucometer, pulse oximeter, scales, and wound vac

Assist with specialized care : complex wound management, blood product administration, pain management, and management of tubes and drains (NG, PEG, feeding tubes, surgical drains, chest tubes)

Maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and staff in the medical-surgical unit
