Special Education Teacher at Intermountain Health summary : As a Special Education Teacher, I identify and address the educational needs of children and adolescents with moderate to severe emotional and behavioral issues. I develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide tailored educational support and transition planning for students. My role includes conducting assessments, providing educational counseling to parents, and fostering a positive learning environment while ensuring compliance with educational standards.
Job Description :
This position is responsible for identifying the educational needs of children and adolescents, functioning as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team in matters relating to educational programming and transition planning. Provides patient individualized education on an individual and group level. Provides classroom skills assessment, academic skills evaluation, educational programming and transition planning to children and adolescents. Provides educational counseling services and recommendations to parents regarding the educational needs of their children. Serves as liaison to patient community based school. Participates, along with clinical staff, parents, patient and receiving school personnel, in transition planning to a patient community based school at discharge from treatment.
This position reports to the Special Education Supervisor and is responsible for providing classroom instruction to students with a wide range of therapeutic needs. The special education teacher is primarily responsible for identifying, planning, and delivering appropriate individualized educational services as identified on the Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited four year college in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Child Development or Child Psychology, preferred
- NOTE : If degree is not in a related field, completed or working towards completing at least two (2) three-semester hour Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses with one being ECE 101 : Introduction to ECE, required- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children, required-
- Colorado Teaching License with endorsement in special education required
- Current Drivers License and must obtain Colorado Driver's License within 30 days of moving to Colorado, required- Motor vehicle record and proof of automobile insurance coverage to be updated annually, required
