Backhoe operator Jobs in Fresno, CA

Omni Underground is hiring General Laborers to support our underground utility construction crews. This role is critical to daily jobsite production and supports work including directional drilling, potholing, trenching, vault setting, and restoration.

We are looking for dependable, hard-working individuals with a Class A CDL who want long-term growth in the underground utility industry. While experience with equipment and utility work is a plus, we are willing to train motivated candidates who show up, work hard, and take pride in learning the trade.

$19 - $26 hourly

• Support underground utility crews on active job sites
• Assist with potholing, trenching, and utility exposure
• Perform backfilling and compaction to project specifications
• Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment
• Assist operators and foremen with daily production tasks
• Operate hand tools, compactors, and basic jobsite equipment
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
• Follow safety procedures and job site instructions at all times
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support crew success

Required:

• Valid Class A CDL
• Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Reliable transportation

Preferred (Not Required):

• Experience with underground utilities
• Potholing experience using Ditch Witch or similar vacuum excavation trucks
• Backhoe or mini-excavator experience
• Trenching, backfilling, and compaction experience
• Construction or utility industry background
