Position Summary

The Senior SAP S/4HANA FICO Business Analyst provides strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in implementing and optimizing Finance and Controlling processes within an SAP S/4HANA retail environment. This role is responsible for delivering scalable finance solutions that support retail operations, including inventory accounting, store operations, revenue recognition, and margin analysis.

The candidate will lead blueprint design, configuration, integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with retail business processes and SAP best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Lead SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI) and Controlling (CO) design, configuration, and implementation in a retail environment.

Collaborate with Retail Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, E-commerce, and Finance teams to align system functionality with business needs.

Configure and optimize:

o Universal Journal

o New General Ledger

o Margin Analysis

o Cost Center & Profit Center Accounting

o Internal Orders

o Asset Accounting

Support retail-specific finance processes including:

o Inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS)

o Store-level P&L reporting

o Sales tax integration

o Credit card and digital payment reconciliation

Design and maintain Financial Statement Versions (Balance Sheet & Income Statement) aligned to retail reporting structures.

Lead integrations between SAP S/4HANA and:

o POS systems

o E-commerce platforms

o Payment gateways (e.g., Paymetric)

o Tax engines (e.g., Vertex)

o Banking platforms

Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications and test scripts.

Partner with technical teams on RICEFW objects and enhancements.

Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.

Provide go-live support and hypercare during implementations.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and adoption of SAP standard best practices

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

10+ years of SAP Finance experience.

5+ years of hands-on SAP S/4HANA Finance implementation/support experience.

Retail industry experience (Apparel, Footwear, Consumer Goods, or Specialty Retail preferred).

At least two full lifecycle SAP implementations (S/4HANA preferred).

Strong understanding of retail finance processes and reporting requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Deep expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance architecture, including Universal Journal and real-time reporting.

Strong knowledge of retail accounting, including:

o Inventory accounting and valuation

o Revenue recognition

o Store-level profitability

Experience configuring cost elements, cost centers, profit centers, valuation profiles, and internal orders.

Strong understanding of integration between FI, CO, MM, and SD modules in retail.

Experience with SAP integration to cloud and third-party retail platforms.

Proven ability to evaluate system design options and recommend scalable solutions.

Experience working with Business Intelligence and analytics teams to deliver financial reporting and dashboards.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced retail environment.

Experience with SAP Fiori apps and S/4HANA embedded analytics is a plus.
