Job descriptionJOB TITLE: ASSOCIATE DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER JOB LOCATION: HOUSTON, TX WAGE RANGE*: 28.00-30.00 PER HOUR JOB NUMBER: SAIJP00038703 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: o Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or related) from an ABET-accredited institution o Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) o Strong communication skills (written and verbal) • Preferred: o Internship or academic experience in electric utility or distribution design o Exposure to AutoCAD, GIS, or utility design software o Familiarity with NESC or GO95 standards JOB DESCRIPTION Entry-level engineering role supporting the design of overhead (OH) and underground (UG) electric distribution systems. This role focuses on infrastructure hardening and wildfire mitigation, performing design and field tasks under the supervision of experienced engineers. Key Responsibilities: • Independently develop design and construction work packages using AutoCAD, AUD, GIS, and proprietary tools. • Perform basic engineering calculations including pole loading, guying, voltage drop, and conductor sag/tension. • Translate field data into digital design plans for reconductoring, pole replacement, and line hardening. • Interpret utility-provided scope documents and translate them into executable design packages. • Support construction efforts by providing post-construction reviews to ensure standards compliance. • Perform design self-checks prior to submitting packages to the formal QA/QC team. • Learn and use internal field data collection platforms (Apple-based; training provided). • Assist in navigating permitting and utility coordination as needed.
