Position Overview
EliteCare Medical Staffing is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ECMO Specialist, Registered Nurse (RN), to join our perfusionist team in California. The ECMO Specialist will operate and maintain the ECMO circuit and equipment for patients requiring long-term pulmonary or cardiac support, working under the direction of the ECMO Physician and ECMO Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Follow ECMO policies and procedures in patient care.
- Operate and maintain ECMO equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Monitor patients' status and the ECMO circuit, providing expert care for those with complex conditions.
- Identify and correct problems associated with ECMO procedures.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate and train healthcare professionals on ECMO therapy.
- Assess and monitor patient response to ECMO therapy, making necessary adjustments for optimal outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing support and education regarding ECMO therapy.
- Document all care provided, maintaining accurate and complete patient records.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols related to ECMO therapy and critical care nursing.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Stay current on advancements in ECMO technology and techniques, integrating new knowledge into practice.
Qualifications
This position can be filled by a Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse.

Additional Requirement :
All ECMO Specialists are expected to have an additional PRN position for at least the first year in our ICU (RN) or Respiratory Department (RT).
