Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment

Duties and Responsibilities :
Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Up Excellence Academy.
Models and instills a love for learning
Teaches multiple academic subjects in a resource room setting and / or provides support through inclusion.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
Present subject matter effectively and according to guidelines established by IEP. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media including technology to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned
Plans, prepares, and delivers lessons plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and learning
Implements a clear and consistent behavior management system while developing student character and sense of community in the classroom a
Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
Collects data in order to determine students strengths and weaknesses
Collects data in order to develop students standards-based IEPs
Collects data in order to measure students progress on IEPs
Collaborates with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff members in developing and implementing IEPs
Modifies the curriculum utilized by HPS based on the individual needs of each student
Assist the general education teacher in implementing the curriculum
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Plan and assign the work of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
