Job description

Description

ELECTRICIAN

Must have High School Diploma or GED.

Must have 5-7 years of experience in the electrical trades

Must meet the following requirements :

  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position including extensive walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs / ladders, and lifting at least 50 pounds. Must be able to accept shift work if required
  • Must possess valid driver’s license, free of any suspension / revocation from the individual state of permanent residence.
  • Must have experience and willingness to conduct work in a multi-trades job environment, work on multiple types of building equipment and systems, and work other trades personnel as assigned

Must have successfully completed one of the following :

  • An approved accredited electrical apprenticeship (4- 5-year program) and have obtained 3 to 2 years respectively of journey-person level on the job experience post program graduation.
  • Electrical trade-specific vocational school (2-year program) and have obtained 5 years of journey-person level on the job experience post program graduation.
  • Electrical trade-specific military school(s) with 5 years of journey-person level on the job experience post program completion.
  • Must have the following Trade specific skills :

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and components in the electrical field from 50 volts to 480 volts. (e.g. : circuit breakers, distribution panels, circuit tracing).
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods in using the materials, tools, and equipment used in installation and refurbishment of electrical systems and project installations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and makes repair to lighting, switches, ballasts, Lutron lighting systems and lighting controls.
  • Ability to interpret and work from electrical schematics, drawings, sketches and O&M manuals.
  • Ability to plan, set up and carry out solutions to supply temporary electrical power to support campus wide athletic and special events.
  • Ability to layout, troubleshoot, and repair all types and sizes of electrical conduit.
  • Ability to be trained to program and operate theatrical lighting boards.
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge in understanding and utilizing safe work practices while performing work on electrical equipment and the use of PPE as defined by OSHA, while performing installations and repairs.
