Job Description:

The Contract Senior Stress Analyst is responsible for predicting internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structures, generating load path diagrams, performing calculations, documenting analysis results, and collaborating with mechanical design teams.
The role includes mentoring junior analysts, automating repetitive tasks, and contributing to cross-disciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities:

Predict internal stresses and structural instabilities in aircraft structures.
Generate free-body diagrams of structural load paths.
Determine reaction forces, calculate internal loads, and develop shear and moment diagrams.
Document and report analysis results.
Coordinate with Mechanical Design teams to develop structural load path concepts and size structural dimensions and features.
Review and approve structural engineering drawings as part of the release process.
Mentor less experienced stress analysts.
Automate repetitive analytical tasks.
Work collaboratively within the Flight Sciences Group and across disciplines on integrated project teams.
Apply industry-standard classical hand analysis methods.
Work overtime as required to meet business objectives.

Requirement/Must Have:

Thorough understanding of classical stress analysis methods.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Finite-Element Modeling (FEM).
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer knowledge.

Experience:

Experience with MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN or FEMAP preferred.
Experience analyzing composite structures.
Experience using Matlab or Mathcad.
Knowledge of FAA and/or Military Airworthiness requirements.

Qualification And Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering (BSME, BSAE, BSCE) with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
Graduate Degree (MSME, MSAE) with a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
