Job description

Multi-Site Property Manager

Hornig Companies has been recognized as a Top Workplace every year since 2016, thanks to the employees who make us exceptional.

Join Hornig Companies, a team of hard-working individuals who truly care about their residents and coworkers. For over 65 years, our family-owned and operated residential property management company has provided individuals and families with homes, not just apartments. Our staff are valued for their individual knowledge, experience, character and personality. We're a place where our core values of trust, integrity and respect are not just words- our ownership and employees live these values every day.

The Multi-Site Property Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance of an assigned portfolio of residential communities. This position provides hands-on leadership across property operations, resident relations, leasing, financial performance, maintenance coordination, compliance, and staff supervision. The manager works closely with key contributors to maintain safe and attractive communities, maximize occupancy and revenue, control expenses, and provide a high level of service to residents. This is a great position for individuals that like variety, care about the details and want to work somewhere that treats you like the expert that you are.

What would my responsibilities include?

  1. Oversee the marketing and leasing of the properties
  2. Coordinate the move-in/move-out process
  3. Work with vendors and the internal maintenance team for timely completion of unit turns, maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance
  4. Collect & deposit rents and follow up on delinquency
  5. Organize and facilitate resident events
  6. Facilitate all day-to-day operations of the properties as required
  7. Recruitment, selection and performance development of Caretaking staff
  8. Manage overall cleanliness of the property and daily routine of Caretaking staff
  9. Provide outstanding customer service and maintain professional rapport with all residents, applicants, vendors and staff
  10. Take a hands-on approach to any necessary duties to accomplish objectives as well as to facilitate the successful performance of others
  11. Communicate with residents regarding repairs in a caring, compassionate manner that upholds Hornig Companies' customer service reputation as well as Fair Housing guidelines

What do other employees like about working at Hornig Companies?

  1. All employees are eligible for year-end discretionary bonuses
  2. Full benefits package with paid time off and 401(k) match
  3. Culture of positivity
  4. Small-company family values inside a growing organization that invests in technology, well-maintained buildings and over 65 years of ownership stability
  5. Ownership that respects your knowledge, trusts you to do your job and appreciates your contributions
  6. Opportunity to work with peers that share camaraderie and a passion for their profession

What should I bring to the team?

  1. 5+ years of experience in a residential multi-housing property management environment
  2. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, owners, vendors and team members
  4. Experience in managing property finances, including reporting and cost control
  5. An eye for market trends and the strategy to act on them
  6. A proactive, solutions-first mindset
  7. Comfort in working independently and as part of a team
  8. AppFolio Plus experience is preferred
  9. Able to lift 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds regularly
  10. Able to bend and reach regularly
  11. Valid driver's license and ability to meet insurance requirements
