The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing the companys financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions. As part of the general accounting team, the senior accountant will assist with financial reporting, audit support, annual operating budget preparation, and tax compliance.
Responsibilities / Goals :
- Financial statement preparation prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and subsequent journal entries related to month-end close
- General compliance ensure Curtin adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations
- Audit support and tax preparation assisting with internal and external audits, assisting in the preparation of tax returns, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations
- Budgeting and forecasting participate in the budgeting process, forecasting future financial performance, and analyzing variances.
- Process improvement identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and recommend / implement solutions
- Communication and collaboration communicate financial information to various stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulatory agencies
Qualifications and Aptitudes Required :
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field3-7 years of experience in accountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or public accounting experience strongly preferredMental Aptitudes :
Proven ability to foster teamwork in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in accounting software, ERP systems and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindsetThorough knowledge of general accounting principle and practicesAbility to interact with all levels of managementMust be able to exercise good judgment and demonstrate strong work ethicAbility to prioritize and multi-task, in a busy office environmentDesire to get it right combined with exceptional attention to detail and accuracyMust comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and healthPhysical Aptitudes :
This is primarily a sedentary role.Vision or correctible vision to 20 / 20.The work environment includes the frequent use of stairs.Ability to work in an office environment and follow HS&E safety protocols when walking through a maritime construction area.This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, office phones, smartphones, and photocopiers.Travel Requirements :
