MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Looking for something new? North Florida Surgeons Lerner ENT is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant. We are currently seeking a motivated individual to grow with us at our Jacksonville Beach office.
GENERAL SUMMARY
A Medical Assistant, is responsible for assisting Doctors and Nurses in providing care to their patients. Their duties include recording and updating medical histories and contact information in patient files, scheduling patient appointments and performing standard care procedures including assisting the physician with office procedures, recording vital signs and assisting in patient counseling for treatments including surgery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit
- Prepare patients for the health care visit by directing and / or accompanying them to the examining room as well as assisting the physician with procedures
- Schedule surgeries and procedures
- Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight, and temperature; report patient history summary
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding;
keeping patient information confidential
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures
- Generate revenue by recording billing information of services rendered, completing insurance forms, and responding to insurance inquiries
- Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential
- Serve and protect the physician or healthcare provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Successful candidate must have a minimum 6 months experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Certification as Medical Assistant or LPN recommended.
- Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, and EMR computer scheduling systems. (Athena preferred)
- Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers.
