About The Position

Ability to float within the unit

Description : Ratios are 1 : 5-6.

This role involves floating in the Medical / Surgical service line.

Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.

Contract stipulates working 50% of holidays.

This unit services a variety of physician teams, including Client, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Oncology.

Patients are adults aged 16 and older with various medical and surgical diagnoses.

Common diagnoses include diabetes, CHF, COPD, renal disease, orthopedic fractures, and neurological deficits.

The unit assists with hospital throughput.

General floor care procedures and skills are essential.

Skills required include IV therapy, lab draws, nasogastric tube care, wound care, and assisting physicians with bedside procedures, including conscious sedation.

Charge duties may be required as needed.

Interdisciplinary support is available through various specialty teams.

Travelers must expect to float to different areas within the organization as a Patient Observer or Sitter.

Compliance with floating policies in all units is mandatory.

Additional unit responsibilities may include care for patients post-angiogram, pre / post-hemodialysis management, and wound care management.

Candidates should have experience with telemetry monitoring, wound vac management, and various types of tube care.

All travelers are expected to have 2 references from a charge nurse or above included in their profiles.

Floating is required across the organization.

Complete understanding of the role and responsibilities is essential for success.
