Equipment Operator

We require :

  • One year of experience operating trucks and equipment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement
  • State and federal regulations require Maricopa County to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for all positions that require an applicant to possess a commercial driver's license (CDL). Maricopa County is also required to conduct a pre-employment safety history investigation for positions that directly impact commercial motor vehicle safety, but may not specifically require a valid CDL

    • We also value :

  • Two or more years of transportation construction or roadway maintenance experience

    • Job contributions :

  • Operate a variety of trucks and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures
  • Haul materials and transport vehicles and equipment to job sites using various trucks
  • Perform manual labor assignments as needed
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment; identify and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair
  • Complete required daily logs and prepare reports; attend safety meetings
  • Complete daily written reports and enter information into the Cartegraph asset management system
  • Perform traffic control activities as needed; report safety hazards and traffic problems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    • Working conditions :

  • Exerting over 100 pounds occasionally, 50 - 100 pounds frequently, or up to 20 - 50 pounds constantly
  • Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness / humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
  • Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel

    • Machines, tools, equipment, software, and hardware :

  • Commercial motor vehicles, various construction equipment, including but not limited to water trucks, dump trucks, skid steers, sweepers, Broce brooms, trailers, and hand tools

    • Protective equipment required :

  • Hard hat, gloves, eye protection, and steel-toed boots

    • CDL selection procedure :

  • Only the most qualified candidates will be considered

  • Successful candidates must undergo a pre-employment background and / or fingerprint investigation, as required by statute or policy. This process includes mandatory drug and alcohol testing for positions designated as safety-sensitive
