Unit Specifics

Number of Beds : 29 beds

Unit staffing description- RN (1 : 4-6 pts) with HUC and PCT support

Type of equipment : IV pumps, Syringe pumps, patient safety equipment (including chair and bed alarms), Ceiling lifts, Sit to stand), Wow, Dynamaps

Documentation system : Soarian

Scheduling requirements : Three- Four 12 hour shifts with weekend commitment.

Floating policy : to areas with competency. AMC has an internal float team that assists in filling holes

Patient Experience requirements : previous cardiology experience preferred.

Hospital Specifics-

Certifications : Academic Medical Center, Level 1 trauma center (adult); Children’s Hospital within a hospital

Requested Skill Set :

Must have : Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required by company policy and local / state / federal rules and regulations.

Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.

Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.

Applies sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.

Provides primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.

Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.

Directs and guides ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.

Advanced skills needed : Rhythm interpretation, familiarity with vasoactive and antiarrhythmic medications (Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, milrinone) preferred.
