Role Overview :
The Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for building and executing the production technical training program. They are responsible for ensuring the operating procedures are accurate and written to maximize equipment performance.
They are the key advisor to the Plant Manager on equipment specifications and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement new tools and technologies to improve efficiency in existing processes or create new ones where none exist
- Coordinate with other departments within the organization to optimize the equipment to maximize capacity utilization, minimize downtime and meet production targets
- Review project proposals and present recommendations regarding feasibility, costs, and timelines
- Develop and administer the technical training program by creating computer-based trainings, videos, classroom training, and hands-on training.
- Establish training standards and consistency across production department
- Develop and facilitate operating manuals for converting technicians
- Develop and facilitate onboarding standards and materials for all new employees
- Deliver hands-on, virtual, classroom, and one-on-one technical training
- Revisit and assess learning objectives
- Research and implement new technologies into instruction
- Evaluate existing instructional content and keep it up to date
- Develop a cohesive, relevant curriculum by partnering with organizational leaders
- Manage / track employee training progression.
- Perform evaluations to validate overall training effectiveness
- Provide reports / feedback / evaluations to management based upon training observations
- Other duties as assigned
Key Requirements :
- A degree in instructional design or engineering is preferred
- At least 3 years of technical experience with tissue converting operations
- Experience with facial tissue converting is desired
- Experience teaching in a classroom setting
- Ability to work with little supervision and organize multiple priorities and work deadlines
- Possess determination, flexibility, ability to accommodate the needs / ideas of others
- Concrete verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to train others
- Ability to prepare presentations for production
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
