Job descriptionExperience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups. Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems. Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments. Computer experience, including Microsoft Office and drafting software. Knowledge and understanding of the concepts, practices, and theories used in construction inspection and surveying. General math knowledge and the ability to use a calculator to perform basic calculations. Ability to establish and maintain positive communication between technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public. Ability to serve as survey crew member and assist with project stakeout. Communication skills to effectively communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner. Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, and climbing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction. Fitness to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing. Strength to lift 50 pounds. Ability to work nights and weekends, as required, to any assigned project in the Division. You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations. Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Wilmington Construction team.
In this role, you will :
- Serve as a lead inspector for larger roadway and larger structure projects.
- Conduct independent inspections on construction operations using plans, contracts, standards, and specifications, and a variety of material testing devices to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Maintain appropriate project records / reports.
- Perform complex surveying and inspection calculations.
- Supervise and train junior employees.
- Be familiar with project plans, contract specifications, and applicable standards.
- Perform office assignments, such as checking pay records, haul tickets, force accounts, contractor's payroll, materials received, and payment estimates.
