Overview

The Design Lead is a member of Sevan's architecture and design studio and works alongside a group of individuals to provide architectural services to our client programs. The Design Lead is responsible for producing accurate design and construction documents for our multi-site client in the big box / retail and fuels / gas station sectors, while leading and supporting other team members in achieving team goals. This position requires prior expertise in fuels design and architectural project management.

Responsibilities

• Prepares complete, accurate and code compliant construction documents.
• Provides technical and creative design solutions that align with program intent.
• Advises on settings project design goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, etc.
• Applies clients program requirements and designs criteria to existing buildings and structures.
• Responsible for determining the appropriate building components and their design application.
• Responsible for maintaining project design schedules, deadlines, and commitments for small and medium-scope assignments of average difficulty.
• Coordinates work with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives.
• Notifies supervisor of changes in project scope and advises if a change order proposal is needed.
• Possesses a working knowledge of building codes and ADA requirements and provides such expertise to the assigned projects / programs.
• Conducts project due diligence with municipalities to determine local zoning and building code requirements.
• Accountable for resolving plan review comments from code officials.
• Accountable for design quality control and technical accuracy of team assignments.
• Assists the project liaison to code officials, outside consultants, suppliers, and contractors regarding questions of the construction documents.
• Confirms and verifies design requirements related to the project or program.
• Follows established standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
• Oversees and directs Senior Architectural Designers and ensuring high productivity and project success.
• Reviews / evaluates others work and provide productive feedback and technical direction.
• Proactively identifies, solves, or elevates project issues related to design, safety, or quality.
• Adheres to CAD / REVIT standards and follows assigned drafting protocol across all projects.
• May represent the company at client project meetings. Visits project sites to verify scope, exiting conditions and other related activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

This is a hybrid role out of our Downers Grove, IL headquarters or Bentonville, AR office, but may be remote based. A highly collaborative environment that flourishes when individual and team contributions combine to achieve target goals and objectives. The workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, and flexible. Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage time effectively with multiple projects and deadlines. Travel on an as needed basis (0-10%). Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and / or move up to 15 pounds.

Pay & Benefits : The anticipated compensation range for the position is $70,000 - 90,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
