The Director, Revenue Cycle is part of the Optum Health National Office of Revenue Cycle Management and will serve as the leader for Revenue Cycle and will support our care delivery organization (CDO) relationships related to revenue cycle performance and operations. This role in conjunction with the CDO is responsible for driving RCM performance, operational improvements and driving improved financial outcomes. This role will be the primary Revenue Cycle leader for an assigned region and regional CEO and CFO. However, they will collaborate with Optum Health Analytics, Clinical Operations, Finance, Accounting, Contracting and IT as thought partners who will assist the markets in execution of initiatives tied to organizational goals. Focus of the role is to maximize collections, optimize workflows and operations that will lead to strong RCM performance and reaching financial targets.

Primary Responsibilities :
Lead Revenue Cycle Operations teams with focus on denial recovery, payment posting and pre-service authorizationsLead and execute Revenue Operations initiatives that drive IOI and performance improvement, providing direction and supportDevelop and implement strategies in partnership with assigned market leaders to optimize revenue cycle performance and improve cash flowAnalyze data / metrics to identify areas for improvementDevelop and execute action plans based on operational and financial plansIntegrate optimization where applicable to ensure best in class revenue operationsAnalyze revenue cycle metrics and identify areas for improvement. This role will collaborate with various departments such as Finance, Accounting, Clinical Operations to ensure efficient revenue cycle processesBe responsible for revenue cycle metric accountability, revenue cycle training and support, and integration activities for assigned marketsResponsible for Revenue Cycle vendor oversight and daily monitoring of RCM operationsWork with vendor to implement solutions to optimize revenue collections and reduction of bad debtMonitor and report performance indicators and quality control reports to manage success of billing vendorMeet with Operations Departments to review revenue cycle metrics, operational issues, and analytics. Identify trends and discuss interim and long-term solutions as appropriateReport out at committees, task forces, and work groupsFoster a culture of continuous improvement within the revenue cycle teamsThe Site Engagement Director will manage regional needs with respect to all communications related to accounts receivable metrics, business office / CDO training / support, and Revenue Cycle Operations (RCO) ComplianceAbility to travel up to 10% of the timeRequired Qualifications :
8+ years of people management experience5+ years of revenue cycle management experience2+ years of Epic Revenue Cycle experienceSolid knowledge of healthcare billing, coding, payer rules, and reimbursement methodologies (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers). Familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirementsSolid understanding of revenue cycle management software, physician billing systems, and reporting tools. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysisProven excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, management, and external stakeholdersDemonstrated leadership skills with a track record of successful training, mentoring, and developing teams. Ability to inspire a culture of continuous improvementPreferred Qualifications :
Proven basic accounting procedures with some accounting background in a medically related environmentProven efficient project management skillsSkills and Abilities :
Understand and articulate the revenue cycle process from start to finish to CDO leadership on an ongoing basis and explain how each lane depends on the other for accuracy in data and claims processingAbility to communicate concisely and effectively to varying degrees of audiences, with a thorough understanding of larger business issues; confident with metrics, and financial and technical / clinical analysis to present to leadersAbility to analyze and present on findings across facility site visits to forecast future needs and collaborate on strategic action plansUse key revenue cycle data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the action items and strategic plansFacilitate communication and collaboration between CDO and the national team to resolve issues and improve workflowLean into initiatives to streamline revenue cycle operations and improve overall efficiency. Identify opportunities to reduce costs, minimize denials, and enhance cash flowUnderstand revenue recognition, how it impacts net patient revenue and our downstream accounting systemsAbility to read managed care contracts and apply principlesProven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to effectively communicate with team members, leadership, and internal / external stakeholdersSelf-driven and personally accountable to achieve results and has internal drive and commitment to achieve those results in the face of difficulty and obstaclesSolid understanding of revenue cycle processes, healthcare reimbursement models, and regulatory requirementsResults oriented with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic, project-oriented environmentExcellent professional presentation and organization skills, including ability to manage an array of people, projects, and deadlinesSelf-motivated, detail oriented, solid analytical and critical-thinking skillsPay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
