SDOT is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Grants & Contracts team within the Finance and Administration Division. This is a pivotal role supporting the financial integrity of SDOT's grant-funded capital projects that shape Seattle's transportation infrastructure.
As a Senior Accountant, you'll support financial reporting, billing, and reimbursement processes for multimillion-dollar projects funded by federal, state, and local agencies. You'll ensure compliance with regulations from USDOT, WSDOT, and other funding entities, while maintaining alignment with GAAP and City accounting standards.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of governmental and grant accounting principles. They are skilled in financial analysis, problem-solving, and data reconciliation, and can interpret complex funding agreements and navigate multiple systems. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the position works closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies to resolve billing issues, ensure compliance, and support SDOT's delivery of critical transportation infrastructure projects.

Minimum Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field. Please note degree requires satisfactory completion of at least 24 semester hours or 36 quarter credit units in accounting with no substitution allowed.
Experience :
OR : An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties. Though not requirements, strong candidates will have some of the following experience or are able to describe comparable experience :

Work is typically performed in a hybrid work environment in which a minimum of 3 days of work is completed in a City office, and 2 days of work is completed remotely in a regular 40-hour work week.

The City's full salary range for this position is $46.40 - $54.02 hourly.
