Job Summary : The Physical Therapy Aide plays a vital unlicensed support role within an outpatient orthopedic clinic at a hospital medical center. This position works under the direct and immediate supervision of licensed Physical Therapists (PTs), assisting with therapist-directed, routine patient-related tasks and supporting clinic operations. The primary responsibility is to provide hands-on floor support to an adult orthopedic caseload, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment conducive to high-quality patient care. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience : Minimum of up to one year of clinical experience as a Physical Therapy Aide required.
Knowledge and Skills : Knowledge of outpatient clinic front office and back-office practices and policies, Electronic Medical Record (EMR) user preferred. Able to consistently and effectively use computer keyboard. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Operate / troubleshoot basic office / patient care equipment required for the position. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Distinguish colors and smell as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone or other electronic mode. Identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace and patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch necessary for patient care.
Licensures and Certifications : Current Physical Therapy Technician / Aide certification or, in absence thereof, at least 12 months of experience as a Physical Therapist Aide. Life Support- Provider Course (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
