Unit : Cardiac Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)

Contract Type : Travel RN contract

Start Date : December 22, 2025

End Date : March 23, 2026

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Night shifts, 4x12-hour (19 : 00 - 07 : 00), every other weekend required

Hours per Week : 36

Staffing Ratios : 1 : 1-2

Floating : Required to cardiac stepdown unit and PICU

Patient Population : Neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults with congenital heart conditions

PICU RN Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent PICU Registered Nurse experience

Active Indiana RN license (required prior to start)

BLS and PALS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)

Proficiency in telemetry and ventilator management

Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation / management, chest tube and tracheostomy care

Ability to float to cardiac stepdown and pediatric ICU units

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)

Two supervisor references required

Pediatric Cardiac ICU RN Responsibilities

Deliver expert nursing care to pediatric cardiac ICU patients, including those with ventricular assist devices (VADs) and post-heart transplant

Monitor and manage ventilated patients and acute airways

Assist with specialized procedures such as intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring and pulmonary artery pressure line management

Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias

Start and maintain IVs, provide tracheostomy and chest tube care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services

Float to cardiac stepdown and PICU units as needed

Work every other weekend and participate in holiday coverage
