Job description

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PCU RN in Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51503!

$2,290 per week

About The Position

Job Title : Stepdown Registered Nurse

Profession : RN (Registered Nurse)

Specialty : PCU RN

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : 12H Days

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years of experience required

License : License required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Must-Have : Must receive a passing score on the open book exam during orientation.

Description :

RN's are required to pass a pass / fail exam during orientation.

The exam is open book on skills learned and candidates are provided with necessary resources to succeed.

A score of 90% is required to pass; failure to meet this score will result in termination.

Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles and cannot be employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with the health system within the past year.

A driver’s license is required and will be used to determine eligibility based on the radius rule.

Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care; refusal to remove artificial nails will lead to termination of contract.

The unit has 22 beds with nurse-patient ratios of 1 : 4.

Common diagnoses include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.

RNs are required to titrate drips, including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin.

There is a charge nurse on each shift who takes a full patient assignment.

Patient care techs are present on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 10.

RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips.

Shifts are cyclic from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700.

Every other weekend and one major and one minor holiday are required.

RNs may float to ICU if appropriate and have experience.

The unit is fast-paced with many admissions and discharges.

Attributes for success in this department include a positive attitude, teamwork, and a patient-oriented approach.

Requesting time off must be submitted upfront; additional requests will not be approved post-submission.

The charting system used is EPIC.

This is a trauma level 3 setting in acute care nursing.
