Description :

The unit consists of 42 beds.

There are 40 core staff members supporting the unit.

Staffing includes day shift with 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, 3-4 CNAs, and 1-3 sitters.

Night shift staffing mirrors day shift.

Patient ratios are 6 : 1.

Equipment on the unit includes glucometers, vital sign machines, hoyer lifts, wound vacs, chest tubes, baxter pumps, epidural PCA, telemetry monitors, kangaroo pumps, BiPap, peg tubes, and blood warmers.

The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech.

Candidates must have a positive attitude and current BLS certification.

Preferred qualifications include 2 years of Med / Surg experience and ACLS certification.

Typical procedures performed in the unit involve assisting with PICC line placements, chest tube management, wound care, tube feedings, initiating IV access, and infusing blood products, TPN, and Heparin.

Ideal candidates are outgoing, work well in a team, and are committed to delivering their best.

Staff must work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period.

There is no on-call requirement.
