Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

TheEnvironmentalTechnicianwillprimarilyberesponsibleforhelping andassisting toensurecompliancewith allapplicableenvironmentalandconservationregulations andstandards andtoassistIAAinmeeting andexceedingitsenvironmentalpolicies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure proper operation of deicing control systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance of environmental control equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with other airport departments to integrate environmental considerations into maintenance practices.
  • AssistinthemanagementoftheIAA'sstorm wateranddeicing controlsystems toensureregulatorycompliance.
  • Perform andmaintainworkingknowledgeofoperating,maintenance activities andenvironmentalbestpractices relevanttoIAA'sstorm waterdeicing control facilities.
  • CoordinationasneededwithIAADepartmentsonmattersrelatingtothe ConservationManagementArea,stormwateranddeicing system,wildlife,and vegetationforIAAproperties.
  • Cut grass, control weeds and remove trees.
  • Empty all facility trash containers.
  • Report any unusual security situations.
  • Wash all facilities equipment.
  • Maintain landscaped areas.
  • Perform activities associatedwithenvironmentalregulatorycompliancebyIAA, includingpermitapplicationandimplementation.PermitssuchasTitle Vair permit,IndustrialPretreatmentPermit,NationalPollutant Discharge Elimination Permitsandanyothercity,state,andfederalenvironmentalregulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections of airport facilities to identify and address environmental concerns.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and environmental compliance efforts.
  • ProactivelyworktoavoidenvironmentalreleasesonIAApropertiesandto remediate existing contamination sites promptly and effectively.
  • PerformsanyotherfunctionsassignedbyDirector,Environmentaland Sustainability or Manager, Environmental Operations.

MINIMUMREQUIREMENTS

  • Graduationfroma standard high school or vocational school; or successful completion of a high school equivalency exam
  • Two(2)yearsofenvironmental, wastewater operator and/or maintenanceexperiencewithinthepublicand privatesectors
  • Knowledge and proper use of tools and equipment used in maintenance and construction
  • Prior experience in operating light duty equipment and vehicles.
  • Abilitytoperform all the physical and cognitive tasks outlined in the job description
  • Abilitytomeetschedules anddeadlines.

Theemployee mustoccasionally liftand/ormoveupto25+ pounds ormore. Specificvision abilitiesrequired by thepositionincludeclosevision,distancevision, colorvision, peripheralvision, depth perception,andtheabilitytofocus. Operateamotor vehiclewithavalid driver'slicense. Operatelight dutyequipment. Operatesmallequipment,hand andpowertools. Climbladders. Havefullphysicaldexterityandagility.Useof acomputerandotherpersonal assistancedevices(tabletsormobilephone)are amust forthisposition.
  • Workenvironment: Thispositionisperformedwithinanofficeenvironment70% ofthetime. Theother30%of theemployee time willbeexposed toweatherconditions prevalent atthetime. Withmultipleworksitesthenoiselevelvariesbetweenthe office environmentandtheoutsideenvironment.Theincumbentinthis position isexpectedtoworkindependentlyandaspartoftheteam.
