Accommodation Assistant, Disability Resource Center
Position Summary
The Accommodations Assistant position works closely with the Alternative Formats Access Specialist and the Front Desk Program Assistant to assist with the reader / scribe accommodation, the alternative formats accommodation and the furniture accommodation.
These roles work to directly fulfill the accommodations for students and coordinate their fulfillment.

The Disability Resource Center provides disability accommodations to disabled students according federal and state law. This ensures that disabled students have equal access to all of the services and benefits of education at Bellevue College.
The Disability Resource Center reports to the Dean of Student Support in the Student Affairs division.
The program serves as a reference for Bellevue College faculty and staff, offering information and training in disability, disability justice related issues, and promoting inclusion in academics, the workplace, and in the community.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Position Salary Range : $39,624 / year - $52,596 / year
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations.
Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We offer comprehensive compensation package with salary and benefits as the main components. Competitive salary is within the Range stated above, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This is a Classified, overtime eligible position and represented by the Washington Public Employee Association of Higher Education (WPEA-HE).

Essential Functions
Alternative Formats Assistance
- Convert course materials into accessible files.
- Edit files in pdf, word and other formats.
- Process work order requests via MyDRC database for alternative format accommodation.
- Collect and verify proof of purchase of student textbooks.
- Communicate with publishers about alternative formats.
- Assess document accessibility.
Reader / Scribe Accommodation Assistance
- Read material out loud for students during tests or class.
- Scribe (write) for students during tests or class.
Test Proctoring
- Check students in for accommodated exams.
- Monitor students to ensure test integrity.
- Follow test proctor forms for accommodations and faculty instructions.
- Return exams to faculty per appropriate method on test proctor form.
- Record all time on test proctor forms and within AIM MyDRC database.
- Inform supervisor of any test integrity issues or other student issues immediately.
Note taking and Furniture Accommodation Assistance
Assist Accommodations Coordinator with miscellaneous tasks related to furniture or note taking accommodations.
Other duties
- Cover Front Desk as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma. Any combination of relevant education and / or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum One (1) year of experience in an office or retail setting.
- Minimum One (1) year of professional experience with software programs Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and / or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Effective customer service skills.
- Effective ability to prioritize competing tasks.
- Effective reading and writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum One (1) year of experience working with disabled customers and / or students.
- Effective understanding of math and science books at the college level.
