Job description

Job Summary :

The Desktop Support Technician provides on-site technical support to in-house teams, addressing helpdesk tickets in person. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring new workstations, and ensuring seamless integration with various systems. The technician will also be responsible for imaging and deploying computers, encrypting hard drives, and escalating urgent issues as needed.

Location : Trenton, New Jersey, United States

Responsibilities :

  • Respond to help desk tickets and provide in-person support.
  • Work with vendor support to resolve technical problems.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems.
  • Build and configure new user workstation equipment (PC, desktop image, phone, peripherals, software, user accounts).
  • Troubleshoot basic network, software, and printing problems.
  • Image computers, encrypt hard drives, and deploy new / re-imaged computers.
  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Prepare activity reports and re-direct non-deskside problems to the appropriate project team resource.
  • Answer inquiries and resolve computer, network, application, and Internet connection issues via phone, e-mail, and remote connection or in person.
  • Walk users through the problem-solving process.

Required Skills & Certifications :

  • 5 years of professional work experience providing hands-on / physical Deskside PC / Laptop / Tablet support.
  • 5 years of professional work experience supporting and troubleshooting PCs running Windows 10 and 11.
  • 5 years of professional work experience troubleshooting Dell PC hardware issues.
  • 5 years of professional work experience supporting troubleshooting PC peripheral devices.
  • 5 years of professional work experience with the most recent version of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 5 years of professional work experience imaging computers and physically setting up computers / monitors such as SCCM.
  • 5 years of professional work experience using remote assistance tools such as Quick Assist or GoToAssist.
  • 5 years of professional work experience using and supporting Office365 (Teams, Email, OneDrive, SharePoint).
  • User-friendly customer service skills.
  • Preferred Skills & Certifications :

  • Experience with Absolute Computrace.
  • Experience with hard drive encryption tools such as BitLocker.
