Director of Construction
Position Overview :
The Director of Construction is a proven leader with deep experience both in the field and in the office, responsible for overseeing construction operations across multiple offices and project teams. This role ensures alignment between field execution and corporate strategy, driving quality, consistency, and performance across all projects. The Director of Construction plays a key role in mentoring and developing staff, optimizing operations, and maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide executive oversight for all construction operations across multiple offices, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Leverage hands-on field experience to support and mentor project managers, superintendents, and field teams through complex project challenges.
- Collaborate closely with preconstruction, estimating, and executive teams to align project goals, schedules, and budgets.
- Establish and maintain consistent operating procedures and best practices across offices to improve efficiency and accountability.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure safety, quality control, and adherence to company standards.
- Lead, train, and mentor teams at all levels to strengthen leadership skills, communication, and collaboration between office and field operations.
- Oversee staffing, workload forecasting, and resource allocation across regions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and partners to support long-term growth and repeat business.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance project delivery.
Qualifications :
15+ years of progressive construction experience, including time spent both in the field and in project management or executive office roles.Proven track record of overseeing multiple projects and teams across different markets or office locations.Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with a focus on developing others.Deep understanding of construction operations, cost control, scheduling, and quality management.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.Preferred Attributes :
